A surfer has a moment of clarity. I wrote this while watching an old grizzled type of guy surfing off the Cornish coast on a cold November day. It seemed like he was taking off into the clouds
The Perfect Wave |
Lyrics
The perfect wave
I’m on my way
waiting for the perfect wave
Among the spray
Looking for a soul to save
The power of the water drives me
The cold and the hard inside me
paddling hard, standing up straight
I can fly, I’ll fly away
I’m heading through clouds and over rain
I’m looking up high to see your face
I’m soaked in love and bathed in light
I’m feeling so good this must be right
Below the salt
crashing from a different fault
I’ll heed the call
swirling rainbows gather us all
and lift us up
lift us up
paddling hard, standing up straight
I can fly, I’ll fly away
This symbol of hope will save the day
A patch of blue among the grey
This storm will blow on through and die
Lift up your eyes and see the light
I’m on my way
I’m on my way
waiting for the perfect wave
Among the spray
Looking for a soul to save
The power of the water drives me
The cold and the hard inside me
paddling hard, standing up straight
I can fly, I’ll fly away
I’m heading through clouds and over rain
I’m looking up high to see your face
I’m soaked in love and bathed in light
I’m feeling so good this must be right
Below the salt
crashing from a different fault
I’ll heed the call
swirling rainbows gather us all
and lift us up
lift us up
paddling hard, standing up straight
I can fly, I’ll fly away
This symbol of hope will save the day
A patch of blue among the grey
This storm will blow on through and die
Lift up your eyes and see the light
I’m on my way
